The Melbourne Tramways Stage Band is restructuring its player base with a view to further raising its public profile and musical standard. The group is community based, with membership available to all committed brass musicians of reasonable ability. Weekly rehearsals are in Hawthorn on Monday evenings and the band’s principal emphasis is to provide quality quality entertainment to the public.
The band is well known for its regular concerts at Wattle Park in Burwood which have attracted a large following over more than seventy years. The band is non competitive.

The Maryborough City Brass Band, a D Grade community band, invites expressions of interest for the role of Director of Music.
The band is very strong in membership and enthusiasm. It works hard to provide quality performances at competitions and community events.
Rehearsals are held weekly on a Thursday night at the band hall in Alma St, Maryborough.

The Rise of the Phoenix
The annual City of Kingston Massed Bands Concert will be held on Sunday 30 July from 2.30pm at the Kingston City Hall, 985 Nepean Highway, Moorabbin. This concert showcases three of Kingston’s community bands including the Southern Area Concert Band, the Chelsea Concert Band and the Moorabbin Brass Band. Now in its twenty-first year, the program features individual performances with each band performing a variety of musical items from the classical, jazz and big band repertoires including Rossini’s stirring William Tell Overture and Carl Orff’s powerful Carmina Burana. The concert culminates with all three bands joining together for a mass performance. No bookings required, just turn up on the day and enjoy the show. Admission $5 at the door.
The Southern Area Concert Band is performing on Sunday 21 May from 2.30pm at the Kingston City Hall, 985 Nepean Highway, Moorabbin, featuring a mix of old favourites and stunning new pieces. Come and enjoy marvellous marches by Sousa, the gorgeous folk tunes of Australia’s own Percy Grainger, the exhilarating orchestration of Gustav Holst and the dramatic ‘Pilatus: Mountain of Dragons’ by Stephen Reineke. Tickets available at the door (no pre bookings): $25 adult, $20 concession, children under 10 free.
Frankston City Band Inc. is seeking front row cornet players and horn players to join the band.
