Conductor Development Opportunities - Semester 2, 2019

The Victorian Bands' League is delighted to announce the next development opportunities to be presented as part of our partnership with Maestros With a MissionThese opportunities for entry-level and intermediate conductors follows our very successful Adjudicators Intensive and Entry-Level Conductors Intensive held earlier in 2019. We believe that the nurturing and consolidation of skills and the development of potential and capacity in our people will strengthen community banding into the future.

The VBL will provide financial support to assist individuals who are registered with the VBL to attend these events and gain knowledge that will be beneficial to both the individual participants and their bands:

  • Conductor Intensive Workshop - Saturday 12th - Sunday 13th October with Boroondara Brass. This workshop will have a brass band focus and will be tailored to entry-level and intermediate conductors. The workshop will feature modules presentations on vital topics for the development and consolidation of conducting techniques, score study and rehearsal strategies for the beginning and intermediate-level conductors, and podium sessions with a complete ensemble and two experienced conductor mentors.
  • Conducting Intensive Workshop - Saturday 16th - Sunday 17 November with the Knox Wind Symphony. This workshop will have a wind band focus and will be tailored to intermediate-level coductors. This workshop will feature modules presentations on vital topics for the development and consolidation of conducting techniques, score study and rehearsal strategies for intermediate-level conductors and podium sessions with a complete ensemble and two experienced conductor mentors.
