The Victorian Bands’ League warmly invites you to participate in the 2018 Victorian State Solo & Ensemble Championships to be held at Methodist Ladies College in Kew. Entries close Friday May 25th with late entries still being accepted until Friday June 1st. Please note that late entries will attract a late fee of 50% of the entry fee.
All events will be held on the one day – Saturday July 28th

The VBL, in conjunction with the Royal South Street Society, is pleased to announce that the 2018 State Band Championships shall be held in Ballarat on the weekend of the 18th and 19th of August.
Founders Theatre will play host to the 2018 State Band Championships. The 1870 Founders Theatre, opened in 1981, was built from funds raised through public appeal from the Ballarat Community and other interested organisations and companies. The well-appointed and comfortable Auditorium has fixed seating for 670 persons.
The provisional schedule for the 2018 State Band Championships is as follows.
Saturday 18 Aug
- Open & Junior Concert Bands
- Open A Grade Brass Bands
- Junior Brass Bands
- Open D Grade Brass Bands
Sunday 19 Aug
- Open C Grade Brass Bands
- Open B Grade Brass Bands
Entries close June 22.

Contest entry forms can be found above. Completed entry forms are to be returned by email, to the Contest Supervisor (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Friday 22 June 2018.
Fees are able to be paid by cheque, made payable to “Victorian Bands’ League Inc”, or by direct debit, see entry forms for account information.
Scores & Synopses
A condition of entry into the State Band Championships is that all competitors must provide the VBL a copy of all scores which the band is competing with. Scores must have every bar numbered and all distinguishing marks removed. Bands should also prepare a short synopsis for each piece which will be read out to the audience during the competition. These must be received by Friday 13 July. While scores must be posted, synopses should be emailed to the contest supervisor (email@example.com).
All players competing on-stage must be registered with the VBL or the competing band will be disqualified. Most players will have been registered at the start of the year but any additional players will need to be registered by Friday 3 August. Contest Declarations & Player Lists
Season Passes (for band members)
All competitors will not be required to buy a ticket to listen to results on the day, however, the VBL is offering discount tickets to all competing band members who wish to listen to other bands. These Season Passes are valid for the entire weekend and are available for $7 each. Competitors will not be admitted to the auditorium without a valid ticket except for the announcement of results.
Season Pass orders should be received by the contest supervisor (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Friday 3 August.

The Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod 2018
The Brass Solo & Ensemble Contest and the Brass Band Contest are to be held on Saturday 15th and Sunday the 16th of September respectively.
The adjudicator for the competition is Erin Ellenburg. The official accompanist is Jodie Lockyer.
