A stunning gala concert is being planned in conjunction with the 2007 National Championships. This concert will take place in the main venue, the Ivanhoe Centre on the evening of Easter Sunday 8th April 2007.
The Gala Concert is intended to showcase the Australian National Band Championships 2007, and attendance by members of the public is definitely encouraged.
The details for the Gala Concert are still being finalized. We can tell you that the programme will include performances by:
The "Rising Stars" Band, which is a band made up of outstanding young players from VBL bands. It is being put together specially for this concert, and will play amongst its items a work specially composed for the occasion and the band by Mike Fitzpatrick. It will also accompany a performance by the Principal Trumpet of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Geoffrey Payne, who started his career in the Willoughby Band.
