The National Band Championships rely on the assistance of volunteers to make them happen each year. Without the dedicated helpers who lend their time there would be no Championships.
Everyone with an interest in bands knows from these pages that the 2007 Australian National Band Championships will be held in Ivanhoe, Victoria, at Easter (5th to 9th April 2007).
The Victorian Bands' League is organizing the event on behalf of the National Band Council of Australia. In recent times it has been difficult to obtain adequate financial support, and therefore the Organizing Committee needs to rely on the services of volunteers to carry out the tasks required.
On each day of the event we need the services of many volunteers. Typical tasks are:-
Doorkeeper, Usher, Stage manager, Ticket/Programme seller, Souvenir seller, Messenger, Case room and Warm up room supervisor, Registrar's assistant, Compere, Writer, Recording technician (the last three are special skills tasks). In return for a commitment of four hours worked, a volunteer will receive a Day pass giving admission to all the events (except the Gala Concert).
A form to register as a volunteer has been sent out in the March issue of "VBL News", and is also available here in both Word for Windows format (which can be filled in on your computer and sent by email to vbl@vbl.org.au), or in PDF format to print out, fill in, and post to the VBL office.
When the Championships are over I want to hear people say that they were well run, and without significant problems. One way to ensure that is to get all the volunteers we need. Please volunteer and give us the help we need so much.
You can also call the VBL office on (03)9362 0200, to tell us what you can do, and when.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
