A MESSAGE FROM THE MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF BRASS
Over the past two years the VBL has agreed to a closer relationship with the Melbourne International Festival of Brass (MIFB). Here's a message from the MIFB to all with an interest in Brass, either as performers or listeners (or both):-
IAN BOUSFIELD TROMBONE VIRTUOSO IS COMING TO THE MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF BRASS
Now that the Nationals are over and congratulations to all those who participated its time to look forward to the next great brass event, the Melbourne International Festival of Brass.
In addition to the extraordinary Mnozil Brass with their playing, singing and buffoonery, MIFB is pleased to announce that the English trombone virtuoso, Ian Bousfield, will also be coming to Australia to perform.
Bousfield started off in the brass band world and his prodigious talent saw him perform, as a 14 year old, with Yorkshire Imperials when they won the British Nationals in 1979. In 1980, he was with them when they also won the British Open together.
At 19, Bousfield started an orchestral career, firstly with the Halle, then the London Symphony and now with the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic.
Bousfield will appear in recitals and in major concerts with one of the country's leading bands. They will be performances not to be missed.
Details of all guest artists and events at the MIFB are on the website (http://www.mifb.com.au) where you can also register as an email subscriber. Registration is free but the regular newsletter will keep you up to date with the activities at the best brass festival in the Southern Hemisphere.
