PATRON ANNOUNCED FOR INAUGURAL MORELAND SLOW MELODY CONTEST

The Moreland City Band is delighted to announce that Mr Doug Trottman, OAM, will be the patron of the inaugural Moreland Slow Melody Contest, to be held on 30 September 2007 in the Brunswick Town Hall, Melbourne.

Mr Trottman is well known to the Australian banding community not only as a fine player but as a musical director and band trainer.

A multiple national tenor horn champion, he has seen many young aspiring brass virtuosi in bands under his baton and has been in demand as an adjudicator and conducting around the world.

Returning to the brass band community after a five year break, Doug is delighted to be part of the Slow Melody.

“It’s fantastic to see initiative such as that shown by the members of Moreland City in putting on such an event,” he said.

Doug’s appointment as Patron of the inaugural contest recognises his experience on both sides of the critique sheet.

“We are very honoured to have such a banding legend agree to oversee the development of our contest,” Sandra Pope, Contest Director said.
