The Moreland City Band is pleased to announce prize money for the inaugural Slow Melody Contest on Sunday 30 September 2007.

“Due to the generosity of our sponsors we are able to offer competitors due reward for their efforts,” Contest Director Sandra Pope said.

Under 12, Veteran and Novice Section winners will receive a trophy and $20, with medallions for second and third.

Open Section winners will receive a trophy and $50, with medallions for second and third.

The Championship Section winner will receive a trophy and $100, with medallions for second and third.

Organisers have also removed the requirement to be registered from the Under 12 Section to allow students and new band members a chance to take part.

Late Entries Will Be Accepted

Due to the number of inquiries organisers have announced entries will be held open until Tuesday 18 September 2007.

“Many players, particularly juveniles and juniors, are still considering if they can enter.” Sandra explained. “If they can play a tune and it has piano accompaniment, then we would love to see them.”

To assist soloists, representatives of the Moreland City Band will be attending the Traralgon Eisteddfod on 15 and 16 September and will accept entries on the day. The entry fee is $5.

Entry forms and the contest criteria can be found on the Moreland City Band website www.morelandcityband.com.au or can also be obtained from the Contest Director, Sandra Pope, by email request to sandra.pope@optusnet.au
