News from the Victorian State Youth Brass Band about the 2009 Camp (Camp commences Sunday 11th January 2009) |
There is great excitement building among the 32 members of the Victorian State Youth Brass Band as preparations are underway for their forthcoming 2009 Camp. The sounds of Brass will be filling the air at the famed Bright Chalet in Bright over the week beginning Sunday 11th January as the Victorian State Youth Brass band settles in for a week of rehearsals, tutorials and workshops under the musical direction of Wally Pope assisted by Jenny Wagstaff, Dean Hughes and tutors Jen Magoulas and Rhys McKee.
We are also fortunate to have the services of Yamaha Artist and famed trumpeter Greg Spence as guest conductor. Greg will also be taking tutorials over the week. Greg Spence is well known in the Australian commercial music scene and is currently the trumpet player on Australia's No.1 rating show, the international smash hit, "Dancing With The Stars", and John Foremans new music show, "The Big Night In". His versatility in commercial, jazz, Latin American, funk and classical playing has made him an in demand session trumpeter with a long list of credits. We would like to acknowledge the sponsorship from Yamaha Australia for making this possible.
With the generous support of Michael OSullivan, proprietor of the Bright Chalet and Wodonga Brass, a concert has been organised for Saturday 17th January at the Bright Sound shell at 7.30pm. We would love to have an audience so anyone in the local area please come along to this free concert, it promises to be something quite exceptional.
We have secured the services of Michael Jewell who is going to be video taping the band over the Friday and Saturday to create a video clip featuring the VSYBB. This will be posted on our newly created website at www.vsybb.org.au.
The committee of the VSYBB also wishes to acknowledge the generous financial contribution made by the Victorian Bands League towards the 2009 Victorian State Youth Brass Band Camp.
There is still time for any young musician who would like to be part of this exciting week to contact Wally Pope on 0438 380 542 or Irene Magoulas
on 0409 774 266 or email admin@vsybb.org.au.
