Draft of Proposed New VBL Contest Rules Released for Comment

The following information has been sent to VBL Delegates and Band Secretaries by former VBL President Chris Bowman.

"As reported over the last 12 months, a comprehensive review of the VBL Contest Rules has been undertaken by a team from the Executive Council. The team's aims are to have a set of contest rules that will take the Victorian banding movement into the future, and to have these new rules in place and effective from 1st January 2010.

The draft rules will be presented at the Delegates Meeting on Sunday 22nd March 2009 (this has already occurred). At this meeting, the team walked through the proposed changes and the rationale adopted in formulating the proposed rules.

That meeting was not used as the forum for debate of the rules, although there was some discussion about key points. The intention was to table the documents at the March meeting and for all bands to have sufficient time and space to work through the current and proposed rules between 22nd March and the following Delegates Meeting on 19th July 2009. The rules will be the major agenda item of the July Delegates Meeting (Delegates should be prepared for a long July meeting).

Following the July Delegates Meeting, at which time the final version of the rules will be bedded down, the revised version will again be circulated to all Delegates and Secretaries. The Delegates Meeting to be held on 25th October 2009 will have the final version tabled, and a motion put to the meeting that the new rules be adopted."

The proposed rules (V1.01) can be accessed here as a PDF file (421 KB). The current rules are available as a PDF file here (276 KB), and a further PDF file comparison of the two documents is available here (6KB).
