Vale Wilf Dyason

It is with deep regret and sadness that we advise of the death, on Friday 11th September 2009, of esteemed VBL Honorary Life Member, former VBL President, and Music Adjudicator and Educator Wilf Dyason.

Wilf was closely associated with Melbourne Youth Music, the early days of State Youth Bands, and worked at many Music Camps assisting young musicians. He taught at Carey Grammar School, and examined for the Australian Music Examinations Board.

In all his activities Wilf must have touched thousands of lives for the better. He will be sadly missed. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to Pat and to his family.

There will be a public celebration of Wilf's life and achievements on Saturday September 19th at Carey Baptist Grammar School, Kew, in the Great Hall at 2.00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Bandpersons are requested to wear their band uniform, and bring their instrument for the playing of a hymn and a march. (A music stand and/or lyre would also be useful.)

Carey Grammar School is in Auburn, on the North-east corner of Barkers Road and Auburn Road (Melways 45 G8) (Auburn Road ends at Barkers Road - Wrixon Street is on the other side of the intersection.) The Great Hall faces Barkers Road. Entry is from Barkers Road, but due to building works parking may be difficult, so it may be necessary to park some distance away.
