Advice from the VBL President in Regard to "Showcase 2009"

In response to queries received, the VBL President, Michael Walker, issued the following statement on 7th October in regard to "Showcase 2009".

For the past two years it has been the President's choice to organise an annual event known as "Showcase". This event was organised to pay tribute to member bands and individuals who had demonstrated achievements throughout the year. It was also an opportunity to recognise individuals who had significantly contributed to the Concert and Brass band medium to which we all contribute.

Last year's showcase at Melba Hall Melbourne University, a fantastic venue, was an expensive exercise that required many hours of logistics and organisation. Given the organisational effort that was applied to this event, compared to the member support and the subsequent significant financial loss, it was decided this year to pause the program and reflect on whether or not this is what member organisations really want.

Hence there will be no "Showcase 2009".

The VBL executive, working on behalf of all member bands, are keen to hear what our members would really like and would welcome all constructive ideas and suggestions which will be given due consideration to ensure the success of future member band sponsored activities.
